What Jupiter Stands For
No question matters more to a workshop like ours. Bringing on young craftsmen takes patience and years of effort, and there is only one place the trade can truly be learned — at the Jupiter production base itself.
Raising the next master builders
Here the workshop has come a long way. In recent years it has trained craftsmen across the trade’s key disciplines:
- ✓ Builders of resonators for custom bayans
- ✓ Builders of cases for custom bayans
- ✓ Three specialists in the right-hand action of the Jupiter bayan
- ✓ A specialist in the left-hand action of the Jupiter bayan
- ✓ A reed-plate maker
- ✓ Two builders for final assembly and tuning of bayans and accordions
We have done extensive work training and re-training specialists from enterprises in the DPRK, as well as technicians who service and carry out warranty repairs across Western Europe — in France and Spain. Our next goal is to raise new reed-plate makers in both the “Moscow” school (Gavrilin, Bocharev) and the Tula school (Plotnikov).
We hand down the craft — free of charge
To grow our own workshop, the nation’s musical culture and the art of the bayan worldwide, Jupiter continually trains and re-trains craftsmen across the regions of Russia and other countries.
How it works: training takes place only at the Jupiter production base at building 28, Ochakovskoe shosse, Moscow, 119530; meals and lodging are at the trainee’s own expense. The workshop helps source and make the tools you’ll need (vices, shears, files and so on) for hands-on practice.
